Iranian Carpet is a rich cultural component that has a varied range of abstract and semi-abstract geometries. We use these geometries to create an extension for a vernacular building in Iran. After choosing the geometries of the carpet, we start to make it more abstract with some techniques such as boolean and spilite.
Amirchakhmaq is a historical building which in the path of the years, just remained a wall and mass in the back of the wall In addition, in the contemporary condition of this building we do not have any heterogenous space and we encounter just interior and exterior space. I set my target of design of an extension for the Amirchakhmagh complex to make a heterogenous space and recreate this space with heterogeneous characteristics. By intersecting carpet geometries, I tried to design sectional objects which are trying to make abstract space. this space by making a variety of spaces is trying to avoid hemogenic spaces which exist in the current situation.
All in all, as it is mentioned in the title of the workshop, this way of creating an extension for a historical place, is searching for another possible path that is against traditional rigid ways. Furthermore, tries to use abstraction to make challenge reality by using two different cultural products.
